How do you motivate yourself?

For a few months now I've been having a really hard time getting myself to partake in any creative endeavor, be it art or development, music or writing. I really want to make myself go ahead and do those things but I've been locking up. I just can't bring myself to. It's a lack of motivation and of discipline, and I'm not quite sure how to get out of this slump.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's felt that way though. How you handle these episodes?

Sometimes I just throw on some music and draw anyways. It might not turn out good, but after a while, I do usually have the motivation to draw again. Plus, I'll have probably improved with the practice I got in the meantime!

That's fair, I just don't think that approach is working for me anymore... I think I just gotta swallow my... pride, or whatever is stopping me, and keep forcing myself until I make it.

Well the last time I really did a lot of drawing was when I was collaborating with Chai on our jam game.

All my motivation stems purely from my special interests and the fact I can't stop thinking about them.

I draw whatever I'm obsessed with at the moment, or something inspired by it, because I want more content to consume. Literally the mentality of "If it doesn't exist, I'll make it myself". Sometimes not even to share or to look good, just for me to spend time with the interest and have an excuse to delve deeper into the topic for references/lore/whatever.

I'm formulating this weirdly lol, but I'm trying to say that for me personally the best way to create stuff is to make something about what you're enjoying at that time. And if you don't have anything, go looking! Find a new thing you like and then draw it, just because you think it's neat. (´꒳`)♡

Gosh, gosh, I see! I have yet to find something I like enough to make me want to do fanart or anything like that...
