I only have one, but i wish i could have at least two, monitors are way expensive and it's annoyed me a lot that i can't multitask because of the single monitor i have beyond having multiple desktops or alt-tabbing a lot, it sucks, i should maybe spend birthday money on a monitor!

Worldbuilding and Lore / Ipswel Lore
    Aug 11, 2023, 07:26 PM
I have a world-building project called Ipswel 00500. I have thought of it for a long time but I'm starting to grow discontent with it, so i thought the best move would be to share some of it to see what other's thought.

The premise behind it is this:
In the far future, humanity has expanded beyond the solar system after a gruesome war against it's most powerful creation, an AI system that was supposed to assist it in solving world issues and more importantly, unlock the secret the secret to space travel.

Instead, they broiled in a war against the machine only won by the desperate attack of experimental fighters and ace pilots. When they won the world was unified and the technologies to explore the cosmos lay at the fingertips of humanity. With a heavy ban on Artificial Intelligence, the world moved on. The war slowly fading into memory.

however, new variants of the AI would surface in bloody civil wars between the planets of the solar system an then other galaxies against the human federation, each time growing closer to discovering *something* in the outer rim of the system.

Soon enough, Humanity would encounter itself in another war, this time against aliens that could mimic their technology. Faced with a dire-some situation, they resorted to unleashing all the technologies that their previous wars had brought forth, all with an increasingly devastating result on each planet they lost, until the aliens simply disappeared without a trace

In one of the ravaged planets, in a system inhospitable thanks to a deadly contaminant, human survivors would hide deep underground, where it was still safe to live, and bid their time waiting in cryostasis.

After a century of waiting, the world had greatly changed, and with it, a new form of life flourished, being able to perform miracles that could only be described as magic, exploring the remains of human presence, learning from their secrets at a steady pace. The creatures were born, lived and died in the planet they called Ipswel.

But the survivors yearned to return to their brethren. And a conflict seemed ever so inevitable.

I may post more snippets of "lore" related to the world in following messages, but i cannot promise to be consistent about it, I'll post as i feel the need to. Still i would appreciate any comments, especially as i delve deeper into the intricacies of the world

    General Discussion / Re: Mastodon?

I want to like Microblogging but Twitter had both the largest communities and a lot of nice features that made mastodon not that cool when i tried it a few years back, i don't know how to feel about the power being split up among instance owners, feels like it could easily become a situation where getting in the cool circle of instances is impossible

I feel twitter was just a media consumption platform rather than actual microblogging

Quote from: Kett on Jul 14, 2023, 10:56 PMPlay Hacknet :) It's a silly little hollywood-hacking game with some loose parallels to working a real computer system, I think it's sorta cute and deserves some attention.

I played the heck out of this and it's DLC, it was a GREAT experience, and if you want more, play uplink!

I'm revoblam! I revel in chaos and indecision and also obsess over franchises that annoy all my friends XD

Jokes aside i do like being a lil' chaotic on the side, to keep everyone on their toes, and occasionally dabble in writing things, drawing and a LOT of mech and racing games. I'm all in to returning to forums, specially if it's a small space like this where we can all have fun!
